Dr BV Doshi’s retrospective travels to Shanghai

Renowned architect Dr Balkrishna Doshi’s ingenious designs have had a great impact on shaping the industry and its thought processes. To celebrate his valuable contributions to the industry and the world, his designer granddaughter Khushnu Panthaki Hoof has curated “Celebrating Habitat: The Real, The Virtual, The Imaginary,” an exhibition modeled on the principles of the illustrious architect.
Showcased at the sprawling 8,000 sq ft Power Station of Art gallery in Shanghai, the travelling exhibition will “play with the configuration of the full scale installations to create a different experiential landscape which changes the perception of the gallery space,” explains Khushnu. “Moreover, the installation specific music composed by Kabeer Kathpalia adds another dimension to the “Indian Modern” experience for the artworks for the Chinese audience.”
Among other works by the master, one will also be able to experience the famed Amdavad Ni Gufa up close as well as get a look-see into the blueprints, canvases done in his hand. The best part? Each display forces the viewer to explore a deeper meaning with introspective message displayed alongside it.
