MAR 19, 2016 | By Jaina Chandwany
From the house of Himatsingka Group, Atmosphere is one of India’s foremost luxury home textiles brands. They recently put a great show at India’s recently concluded design week in New Delhi. We catch up with the Managing Director, Akanksha Himatsingka who shares her experience as an active participant at the fair.
Their collections
“We showcased a collection of signature furniture inspired by our textiles in collaboration with four renowned design studios which resulted into – AKFD’s intriguing hanging sculpture and a modern day swing woven with our fabrics; Project 810’s handcrafted daybed; Studio Lotus & Mangrove Collective’s unique library depicting the weaving process from warp to finished product; and lastly, Studio Wrap’s modular soft architecture sofa. Our objective was to create romance and drama, craft and conversation to produce creations with unique functionalities that evoke varied emotions in their use.”
Exhibiting at India Design ID 2016
“ID is a strong platform for showcasing the design voices of India. Atmosphere Collaborative’s mission was to bring about unique stories through a confluence of creativity and design.”
Their experience
“Our clients and visitors were delighted to see the collaborations and the use of our textiles highlighted through fresh concepts that were specially created for the event.”
What they loved
“The entire event and planning gets better with each year. The installations, and the various speakers and booths like The Godrej Design Lab, FCML’s new endeavor, Sunil Sethi Design Alliance’s installation along with the EDIDA design awards showcase were all interesting experiences.”
Next year at India Design ID
“We’re still getting over the buzz from this year, but for the next year, we would continue to have strong design collaborations and showcase them at events like ID.”
