Artius identifies as more than just a company — they identify as innovators, dreamers, and creators dedicated to transforming living spaces into realms of unparalleled luxury and sustainability. As they embark upon an intimate journey through three of their latest projects, each narrating a unique story of design, functionality, and environmental harmony — experience their endeavours firsthand, as their locations vary from the serene outskirts of Delhi to the breathtaking heights of the Himalayas.

Palatial Home: A Gateway to Grandeur

Imagine yourself driving through the bustling city of Delhi, where the clamour of daily life gradually fades into the tranquil embrace of nature. As one arrives at the home designed by the visionary architect Amit Aurora of Group DCA, one’s gaze is immediately drawn upward. There, a majestic 20-foot-tall door stands — a testament to Artius’s latest triumph in architectural design. This isn’t just any door; it’s a portal into a world where light and space dance in harmony. The Georgian bar design, personally envisioned by the architect and brought to life by Artius’s team, isn’t merely a feature; it’s an embodiment of elegance. Over 80 doors and windows are installed in this home, each a testament to Artius’s commitment to blending aesthetic beauty with practicality. Functionality-wise, each one of them is integrated with high-performance bug meshes.

In the architectural design of this expansive palatial home, strategic planning was employed to harness the natural landscape and climate advantages, with special attention to the roles of doors and windows in enhancing the overall living experience. The living spaces, particularly those facing north and east, were meticulously designed to maximise the panoramic views of the beautifully landscaped lawns that adorn this acre-sized property. By positioning the residential quarters towards the southwestern section of the lot, the design reserves extensive areas for open gardens, integrating the built environment with the lush natural surroundings with ease.

The incorporation of strategically placed doors and windows emerges as a central theme in achieving this harmonious blend. These features are not just architectural elements but pivotal components that facilitate interactions between the interior and the exterior. Large windows and elegantly designed doors, especially in rooms facing the preferred directions, play a crucial role in capturing the essence of the landscape and inviting it indoors. They ensure an abundance of natural light while offering expansive views, thereby enhancing the aesthetic and sensory experience of the residents. Moreover, these doors and windows are instrumental in making the house climate-responsive. They are designed to harness the prevailing breezes and natural hues of the north and east, enriching the indoor ambience without the intrusion of natural vagaries.

The thoughtful placement and design of these openings underscore the architectural vision of blending functionality with beauty, allowing the inhabitants to enjoy the natural environment’s changing colours and light from the comfort of their homes, thus elevating the architectural narrative to a celebration of light, landscape, and living.

Farmhouse: Crafting the Future of Sustainable Living

Envision the future with Artius’s ongoing farmhouse project. Nestled in the heart of Delhi, this modern design glulam mass timber house represents their dedication to sustainable and innovative living solutions. Spanning 1800 sqft, this is a marvel of contemporary design, utilising Douglas fir wood to craft a space that’s both beautiful and environmentally conscious. With a living room, kitchen and bedrooms spread across its floors and a studio gallery crowning the structure, this is designed for entertainment, joy and life catering to a young-age client. This endeavour not only highlights Artius’s dedication to modern and environmentally conscious design but also resonates deeply with their previous achievements, notably the ground-breaking project in Goa. In Goa, Artius crafted a 6,500-square-foot residential masterpiece using raw structural timber, Douglas fir, and glulam construction techniques. This project, a first of its kind in India, is a testament to its commitment to excellence, sustainability, and the effective integration of natural materials into luxurious living spaces. The use of glulam, a method they’re deeply proud of and central to both the Goa residence and this farmhouse project, exemplifies their dedication to pushing the boundaries of conventional design and construction.

Hermit Abode Project: Embracing the Serenity of the Himalayas

Let the journey take a majestic turn as one ascends to the Himalayas, where the Hermit Abode Project stands as a beacon of luxury living in harmony with nature. This extraordinary architectural marvel, featuring mass timber (Glulam), is not just a structure; it’s a testament to the elegance of sustainable design that transcends time. With four exquisite villas, a captivating clubhouse, and an exclusive private residence, the Hermit Abode is more than a project; it’s a promise. A promise of warm, inviting ambience, unparalleled cosiness during snowy winters, and a living experience that truly harmonises with the enchanting beauty of its natural surroundings.

Key to Artius’s design ethos is the prioritisation of thermal insulation. In the heart of the mountains, snowy winters are not just a passing season but a defining element of the locale, ensuring unrivalled cosiness and warmth is paramount. Their structures are meticulously designed to retain heat, providing an inviting ambience that becomes a haven of comfort against the crisp mountain air. This insulation is not merely a feature but a foundation upon which the experience of Hermit Abode is built, promising unparalleled cosiness during the long snowy months.

Recognising the challenges posed by the Himalayan climate, including heavy rainfall and snowmelt, their designs incorporate the best waterproofing solutions available. This proactive approach ensures the longevity and durability of each structure within the Hermit Abode Project, safeguarding against the elements and preserving the beauty and integrity of the wood. Through the use of advanced materials and techniques, they ensure that each villa and residence remain pristine and welcoming, regardless of the weather outside.

An amalgamation of design and sustainability

At Artius, they believe that every project is a magnificent sum of all its smaller parts, where each element — from the tallest doors to the warmest wooden structures — plays its part in creating a masterpiece. The journey through the Palatial Home, the Farmhouse project, and the Hermit Abode illustrates their passion for crafting spaces that are not only visually stunning but also bear the hallmark of their commitment to sustainability and innovation. Their work is a dialogue with nature, a celebration of light, and a homage to the beauty of sustainable materials. As they continue to push the boundaries of design and functionality, they invite one to reimagine their living spaces with them. To see their homes not just as places to reside but as canvases for art, as realms of luxury that speak the language of light, space, and environmental harmony. But words can only convey so much. To truly understand the essence of their work, they extend a heartfelt invitation to visit their immersive experience centres in Gurugram and Hyderabad, where visitors can witness the engineering, craftsmanship, and sheer beauty of their projects up close. It’s there that one can begin a journey with them, a journey of transformation, of creating spaces where luxury and sustainability intertwine.
