Experience a melange of tradition and technology
15,556 is architect and designer Rooshad Shroff’s city debut showing of his award winning handcrafted designs. In his work, Rooshad creates a sophisticated alliance between traditional techniques and design innovation.

Witness a 20th century legend’s work
TARQ, in collaboration with Mondo Galeria & Matthieu Foss presents the work of one of the leading names of Dadaism and Surrealism with Views of the Spirit, photographs by Man Ray. With the permission of the Man Ray Trust ADAGP, his famous Glass Tears along with portraits of 20th century behemoths like Salvador Dali, Coco Chanel and Marcel Duchamp amongst others will be displayed.

Make a date with clay
Madhavi Kolte addresses society’s ignorance in recognising the impact of our actions or lack thereof on the environment. Her solo show, Integration is a description of the fluidity of natural elements, inspired from a lifelong conversation she has been having with Mother Earth.

Marry culture and nature
Vaishnavi Ramanathan and Brijeshwari Gohil curated a new exhibition, ‘Nature to Culture: Crafts of India’. This exhibit aims to showcase the relation between Indian craft traditions, land and environment. It demonstrates how several crafts are nearing extinction, due to the absence of raw materials & changes in the way life itself is lived.

Redefine landscapes
Curated by Prajna Desai, this collection features works by Gobardhan Ash, Prajakta Potnis, Gieve Patel and Tejal Shah. Wooden Horse in Boggy Land: Four Propositions about Landscape, named after Gobardhan’s two paintings shows the radicalism of the Calcutta Group. It shifts the centre of gravity from the pastoral and idyllic landscape to middle class life and gendered psychoscapes of hysteria and self-construction.

Delhi
Celebrate women
The International Women Photographers Award provides women photographers with a platform to exhibit their work to a diverse audience and gain global recognition. Only 11 photographers are selected from over 700 applicants, with major cities like Dubai, Paris, Cairo, Lahore and Bahrain, among others showcasing the Laureate and finalists’ work.

Look beyond stereotypes
In the past few years, there has been an increase in the number of racial attacks in India, like that of a young Tanzanian woman attacked in Bangalore. Acting upon this, Mahesh Shantaram decided to document the lives of African students living in India in a series of intimate portraits. The African Portraits are aimed at creating awareness about the everyday racism and discrimination faced.

Paintings to photographs
Rohit Chawla showcases two of his most popular photography collections, paying tribute to Raja Ravi Varma & Gustav Klimt. The Inspired Frame reconstructs Klimt’s Byzantine imagery, Varma’s combination of Indian mythology and the European technique of realism in oil painting.

Kolkata
Pre-independence graphic art
This exhibition will showcase some exquisite graphic prints of Gaganendranath Tagore, Ramkinkar Baij, Mukul Dey & Rani Chanda. Rabindranath Tagore’s nephew, Gaganendranath took up caricature, posting scathing satirical cartoons. Mukul Chandra Dey, a student of Tagore’s Santiniketan, is considered a pioneer of drypoint-etching in India, portraying various sides of Indian life. Ramkinkar Baij was inspired by the lifestyles of rural dalit or Adivasi communities living around Santiniketan. A student of Santiniketan, Rani Chanda’s portfolio is an outcome of her exploration of printmaking medium, taking to linocut, showing glimpses of rural life in these relief prints.
