The QBIK store in Hyderabad, crafted by Akash and Poonam Mehta of AMPM Designs, blends sleek modernity with the rich heritage of Hyderabad, creating a retail experience that is both visually striking and culturally resonant. Their dedication to blending functionality, beauty and sustainability ensures that each individuals vision is realised in a visually striking and eco-friendly style.

    According to Poonam Mehta, co-founder of  AMPM Designs, “Our design philosophy centres on showcasing QBIK’s exquisite fusion silhouettes and groom’s wear as the focal point, while the store’s architecture and decor pay homage to Hyderabad’s distinctive charm.”

    Recreating luxury

    Drawing inspiration from brutalist architecture, the micro-concrete floors of the QBIK store evoke the ancient caves and arches that define Hyderabad’s rich architectural heritage. These floors seamlessly integrate with walls designed to mimic stone facades, finished with a soft, refined texture that enhances the space’s grandeur and elegance.

    This thoughtful design approach not only accentuates the majestic curated designer pieces on display but also elevates the overall aesthetic of the store. The residential building has been carefully transformed to overcome challenges such as low ceilings and existing columns, resulting in a space that skillfully balances a sense of openness with intimate, welcoming areas. This meticulous transformation ensures that every aspect of the store enhances both the visual impact of the products and the comfort of the shopping experience.

    A gallery of artistry

    A collaboration with Nitush and Aroosh has resulted in bespoke furniture that complements the store’s rock-inspired theme. Boucle-upholstered pieces in a tone-on-tone palette create a luxurious atmosphere, while a conservatory concept introduces natural light and greenery.

    Unique elements like a black-and-white striped carpet runner by Jaipur Rugs and heritage wallpaper by Kalakaari Haath enhance the exclusive trial room, which features mirrored walls and carpeted floors. Modern touches include sofa chairs and tables by Hatsu and a groom’s salon with a striking rock table and chandelier by Nitush Aroosh.

    Fluid-shaped wall shelves and a centrepiece light installation by Hatsu highlight the fusion of heritage and modernity. This integration of design and tradition not only highlights the elegance of QBIK’s offerings but also redefines the shopping experience in a space that is as innovative as it is culturally resonant.
