Andy from Toy story had his toy-filled haven and Carly from iCarly had her pink quirky candyland. What if we told you that your kid’s room can join the likes of such iconic sanctuaries? ELLE DECOR India curates an assembly of 9 kids’ room ideas across interiors and decor, you’re going to want to mimic for yourself, if not for your kids!

Straight out of a fantasy

In a sea of kids’ room ideas, this one is out of a fantasy. Literally. The etched motifs on the hardware come from bedtime stories, adding an air of nostalgia to the room. Principal architects Aditya Basarkar and Manali Patil of Articulated Design Initiative ensured the bedroom opened up to a panoramic view of awe-inspiring Vashi hills while using warm and comforting hues throughout the space.

Minimalist escape

You can’t see the floor in so many kids’ bedrooms; they’re so clutter-filled! Principal architects Raj Kothari of AVVO and Iram Boxwala of Iram Boxwala Design Studio believe that minimalism in interior design offers a refreshing escape. The room is the definition of modernity without excess, while still sprinkling in child-like wonder and creativity.

With Cinta by their side, their sense of adventure and love for magic will soar to new heights!” And in this nursery, Cinta does just that! Coordonné Murals available at Dialogues by Nirmals

When in doubt, slap a mural on the wall! Fun, colourful and such a quick easy fix to jazz up a boring space.  The Coordonné murals are a perfect example. Anything your child likes, they’ve got you covered: Animal map, Doggy gravity, Doll house. Their new collection titled Random Kids is full of playful imagery to heighten already wild imaginations.

Coral Haven

Colour theory is important to consider when shortlisting kids’ room ideas: sage green and peach coral beautifully interact in the space to create a muted and calming colour palette. Storey Tellers Design Studio imbued the space with fun and tiny accents: rainbow rug, donut motifs and cuddly toys (things you can never really outgrow!).

Montessori Magic

Hey, learning can be fun, we swear! This child’s room by Studio Agara is a delightful symphony of pastel hues, meticulously crafted with the Montessori method of learning as its guiding principle. Every corner is thoughtfully designed by Avni Parikh of Studio Agara to align seamlessly with the child’s daily routine, maximising functionality without compromising on the cherished element of a dedicated reading space. Plus, who doesn’t love a world map mural?

The Holy Trinity

A tufted couch, pink accents and a lovely vanity. That’s the holy trinity of a little girl’s dream bedroom. Principal architects Rajat Behl and Shrruti Behall of NSN Studio Divine wanted to create a children’s bedroom to spark joy and imagination. A mixture of colour and texture, we think the space embodies their initial intent. This is definitely a space to add to your list of kids’ room ideas.

Child-like sophistication

When you’re books are organised in ascending order, it’s a dead giveaway that you like things organised. This little girl’s bedroom is just that; elevated, sophisticated and of course, organised. Rohit Bhoite of his eponymous firm successfully gave her, per her request,  a playful but mature room. Departing from monotony, he plays with geometry and lines to add dimension to the space.

One-stop shop at The Baby Atelier

Payal Karumbiah, Design Director at The Baby Atelier, says “At The Baby Atelier, our focus is on revolutionising children’s room aesthetics. Since this is a  place where initial lessons take root, offering boundless opportunities for creativity, every detail, from design to product selection, holds immense significance.” This philosophy is reflected in their flagship Bangalore store: a space to design a room where kids can grow independently and (unapologetically!)  themselves.
