An open kitchen where one can entertain, spend time with their friends and family without that wall being a barrier. ELLE DECOR India curates 15 open kitchen ideas that you wouldn’t want to miss!

A serene perfection

A kitchen does not need multiple elements, it’s a place where flavours are created with a free mind and space. This open kitchen is designed by Yatin Kavaiya and Jiten Tosar of Usine Studio. The space is meticulously designed to ensure natural light that illuminates the kitchen without detracting from the design. Matte blue cabinetry creates a serene atmosphere, complemented by minimalist hardware and a natural wooden breakfast bar that adds warmth. A standout feature is an overhead cabinet with a glass shutter on a counterweight mechanism for a smooth operation and a subtle look.

Taste of Greece

Aanai Design Studio brings a splash of Grecian flair to your home! Think vibrant arches, eye-catching colours and richly upholstered furniture that come together for a look that’s both stunning and sophisticated. Gayathri Padmam waved goodbye to low ceilings and outdated walls, opening up spaces to match the ultimate vision of the homemakers.

Coastal breeze, minimalist ease

Nestled in the coasts of Kelwa is this decade-old abode redesigned by Amritha Karnakar of AKAD. The home has a fine balance between the modern and traditional design keeping in mind the functional requirements of the family. The open kitchen features a simplistic theme set by the designer by incorporating tones of greys and whites, while also keeping the space natural and clean which adds to its classic design.

Blurred, clear lines

A kitchen, so effortless that it blends into the living room, designed by Henkin Shavit Design Studio. It features a granite work surface on one side and high cabinets with a stainless steel fridge and oven on the other. A round dining table, illuminated by a minimalist lamp by ASAF WEINBROOM that anchors the space. A natural rope carpet enhances the rustic, monochromatic theme, while Danish wooden legs beneath the glass top echo the sleek lines of a renovated ’60s school bench. Hans Wagner chairs from the ’50s infuse elegance in the kitchen.

Spanish hacienda

Spanish-style kitchens feel both alive and lived-in. MuseLAB founded by Huzefa Rangwala and Jasem Pirani designs an open kitchen in Coimbatore that feels calmer and more cohesive by keeping the tile and the cabinetry all in the same soft blue family.  The space is exposed to an ample amount of sunlight through windows complimented with wooden furniture and smart appliances that elevate the whole look.

Beige tones

Who says beige is boring? Kumpal Vaid Lobo of Purple Backyard shows it’s the perfect choice! This kitchen features sleek granite countertops and warm wooden vitrified tiles by Vardeco. The playful curved edges of the kitchen island add a whimsical touch to the space.

Monochromatic hues

A classic monochrome kitchen remains eternally stylish. Designed by Sunita Yogesh Studio, this house in Coimbatore is nestled amidst lush greenery. The kitchen is designed in a way that opens out to the double-height dining space giving the home an uplifted look.

Pops of colours

Colours can definitely make or break spaces. In this case, the colours are the backbone of this home designed by Swati Seraan of By The Riverside. This playful home has an extravagant kitchen that features a beautiful arch followed by bold hues that take centre stage: a green island, red cabinets and blue window shutters boldly declare the home’s spirited personality.

Plush elegance

In a kitchen where timeless elegance meets innovative design, a colonial blue cabinet by Paayal Jain of Twila Design Studio stands proudly in the corner, adding a touch of classic charm. Meanwhile, the island takes centre stage, topped with a sleek surface and illuminated by a striking pendant light overhead, creating a perfect blend of functionality and refined style.

In a kitchen that redefines openness, this sleekly designed kitchen by Aniketh Bafna and Sonal Mutha of Studio Ipsa, adorned with stunning sea green subway tiles from Ceramique, that opens up to extend the living room. The minimalist design and vibrant tiles create a fresh, inviting space that enhances the flow between the kitchen and living areas, making every moment feel like a breath of fresh air.

Minimal tones

Step into a kitchen where modern chic meets refined allure. In this beautifully designed space by Vani Naik Bhutani of Vani Bhutani Designs, the kitchen stands out with its sophisticated monochromatic Dekton tiles. Above, a Smeg ceiling-mounted chimney elegantly contours the ceiling, complementing the round pivot window framed by cane sandwich glass. At the kitchen island, a set of stylish patterned cane and metal bar stools provide seating. The space smoothly transitions into the dining area, creating a harmonious flow between the two rooms.

For interior designer Vinithra Amarnathan of  Weespaces Interiors, the kitchen is the crown jewel of the home. Its expansive layout offered a canvas for imaginative design and personal expression. Bathed in soothing shades of blue and graced with an 8-foot-long window that dances with shifting sunlight, this spacious kitchen is more than just a place to cook. It’s a serene haven where delicious meals and unforgettable memories are crafted, embodying the essence of tranquil living.

Unified Spaces

This design stands in striking contrast to traditional layouts by embracing an open-plan concept that blurs the lines between kitchen and living space. Ground Zero designs a space that is unlike conventional designs that often compartmentalise cooking and dining areas, this innovative approach by Sagar Rathod, Mansi Rathod and Ritika Uttamchandani creates a seamless flow, allowing for effortless entertaining and conversation. The kitchen extends into a sophisticated dining area that integrates with the living room, ensuring that the host remains engaged with guests while preparing meals. This fluid arrangement not only enhances social interaction but also maximises the use of space, redefining the conventional boundaries of home design.

Sunny hues, country vibes

A country-style kitchen where mustard hues and vibrant green tiles turn everyday cooking into a delightful escape, designed by Minnie Bhatt Design. Here, mustard hues make a bold statement, brought to life through artisanal handmade tiles that add a touch of handcrafted elegance. They say, “The kitchen is where meals and memories are made.” Deepa Shetty of Dee & This has beautifully embraced this idea with her design of a cozy open kitchen. She has crafted a warm, wooden breakfast counter, perfect for everything from speedy coffee fixes to long, laughter-filled chats. The space is a masterful blend of beauty and functionality, featuring a refreshing palette of green tones. This combination brings a natural, invigorating feel to the heart of the home.
