Founder of eponymous, Dubai-based studio, Roar, Pallavi Dean has been making her mark on the world of interiors and design since 2013. We had our eyes on the star designer ever since we saw candy coloured images of the newly furbished Edelman headquarters floating all over Instagram.
The award winning design studio, Roar (formerly Pallavi Dean Interiors) has once again, grabbed our attention with their luxurious project—a 2,500 sq ft show apartment in Dubai’s starry Marina Arcade.Roar unites fearless eclectic details of local origin with refined international aesthetics. The pad commands a second look, dressed in sumptuous creamy hues, bringing our Pinterest board to life.
You’ll see a palette of polished neutrals, deep blues and mustard yellows – pieces that can be mixed and matched or layered, but also hold their weight on their own. “The brief envisioned a striking, aspirational design that is high-design and high-fashion, with immersive detailing that would lure potential buyers when they come to visit,” says Pallavi, founder of Roar.
“In short, we set out to create the experience of a boutique design hotel.” The house is beautifully manicured with gold accents, decorative pendant lighting, lacquered wall panelling coated with textured paint and even custom designed vinyl wallcoverings — which adds a layer of depth that really helps generate the luxurious, handcrafted hospitality that Pallavi was going for.
The materials and textures include the use of mirrors and reflective surfaces gives a sense of the apartment being flooded with natural light and makes it feel spacious. Even with a multitude of diverse elements, the space seems seamless.
“We began by creating a sense of continuity throughout the building, so the colour palette takes its cues from the reception lobby – a muted, neutral base palette. For the main accent colours, we chose blue and mustard yellow. The blue is inspired by Emirati artist Mattar bin Lahaj’s Galloping Horse painting in the reception lobby,” she says. So, if you’re looking to give your home that much-needed makeover, this apartment is sure to provide you with all the decor inspo you will ever need.
