Seasonal Change: Bungalow 8 store at Churchgate gets a monsoon facelift
JUN 23, 2016 | By Nupur Ashok Sarvaiya
An alliance of Paris and Mumbai and East meets West, the concept lifestyle and fashion boutique Bungalow 8 has been a game changer in the city. In keeping with the fresh makeover the season demands, the store at Churchgate, under the Wankhede stadium, has changed its visual look and vibe. Bungalow 8 now offers a meticulously edited merchandise of garments, jewellery, scarves, and bags against the backdrop of its one-of-a-kind interiors that perfectly syncronises with the monsoon months.
Giving gloomy weather an ideal contrast are the visuals of the boutique that lay inspiration from an English summer but reimagined in a desi fashion. To add definition, mannequins have been covered with jute and old doors. The store is engulfed in a soft and subdued colour palette with bursts of monochromatic tones. A baroque screen with pretty angels dancing on a sunny yellow background is left unselfconsciously behind a charpoyesque bed to ooze a just like home vibe.
When we spoke to the owner Maithili Ahluwalia about the reimagined space, she cited, “This season’s feel is about bringing the outside, in. We have projected experimental films on nature on the walls in cinematic proportion, covered the entire floor with chatai and have treated our furniture with matte white paint or stripped it to its natural grain. Everything about the mood is light and airy.”
