ARKS’ new plot twist in Delhi

Accents of red: Ranbir Kapoor’s ARKS teams up with Anagram Architects for its second new destination

Sequels are always the one to look forward to. While this stands true for the cinematic world at all times, in the case of our favourite retail labels, sequels become a case of compelling anticipation, too. Cue ARKS and its gleaming, second outpost set to launch in New Delhi. A continued story after its first established store in Mumbai’s thrumming locale of Bandra. An elevated lifestyle brand by Ranbir Kapoor, the new store in DLF Avenue, Saket is envisioned by Anagram Architects as a discerning, understated yet visibly expressive playground for ARKS’ assembly of all things statement for one’s wardrobe.

Around the red dot

Spread across 1,000 sq ft, tones of red, white, muted grey walls, alongside striking sculptural moments become key to the storytelling of the store. The space pivots around a glossy red double-decked display that anchors the store and sets the tone for visitors’ encounter with the brand — dynamic yet restrained.

Four freestanding wood panels with ARKS’ signature red metal rods, just like the one from the Bandra store etch fluid sections for display, leaving ample rhythm and room for one to navigate and discover the space freely. “The material palette is deliberately restrained: large-format flooring tiles, matte-finished walls and warm veneers establish a refined calmness, against which the sculptural red insertions punctuate with energy,” explains the creatives at Anagram Architects.

A large barrisol along the ceiling diffuses the light like a skylight becoming a central feature of the roof that captures the attention of guests at once. Minimal can be maximal, too, a phrase materialised perfectly inside the store with mirrored walls stamped around that stage a play of volume and repetition, central to the choreography of the store. The minimalist attitude of the store is deliberate, so the attention effortlessly moves to the rows of merchandise displayed throughout the outpost. In many ways the store is different from its predecessor, but the ethos remains singular — calm, confident and minimal.

With its New Delhi chapter, ARKS reaffirms that retail can indeed be more than just shopping; it can be theatre, a design-led conversation, unexpected turns of discovery, or perhaps flipping through a book of pop culture, well scripted in equal measure.
