ORI - Folded Dreams: where metal meets poetry

BY

ELLE DECOR

ORI began with a single, powerful question: What if metal could fold like paper? Rooted in the ancient Japanese art of origami, the brand’s journey started with a bold vision — to transform rigid, unyielding metal into delicate, purposeful forms. This idea became their identity, and ultimately, their name: ORI.

At first, it seemed impossible. Metal isn’t meant to bend with grace. Years of experimentation followed, a blend of engineering and artistry, as they worked to master the fold — not just technically, but emotionally. What emerged is more than just a collection; it’s a philosophy made tangible.

Each ORI creation — from furniture to lighting to sculptural accessories — reflects the harmony of opposites: hard yet fluid, structured yet expressive, minimalist yet full of meaning. Every fold is intentional, a functional movement echoing the essence of origami: thoughtful, precise, and poetic.

At ORI, design is more than aesthetics. It’s a dialogue between material, maker, and space — and an invitation to feel. Their pieces are not just crafted; they are composed, each one telling a story that unfolds over time. ORI – Folded Dreams is more than a lighting installation. It’s an immersive experience where sculpture meets serenity, where craftsmanship honours culture, and where form evokes feeling.

Step into the world of ORI, where light is sculpted, metal breathes, and simple materials are transformed into dreamlike objects that blur the line between art and living.

Folded dreams as philosophy

In Japanese, “ori” means “to fold,” but it also implies a spiritual act of transformation. Folding dreams into physical form means giving shape to fleeting thoughts, hopes and memories. The piece becomes a vessel for quiet contemplation, a poetic nod to the beauty found in simplicity.

The poetry of light and shadow

Lighting at Ori is not about brightness alone — it’s about atmosphere. The Licuala Pendant Lights, with their pleated geometries, resemble folded paper lanterns, radiating both warmth and rhythm. Each perforation tells a story, scattering golden specks across walls and turning any room into a stage where light and shadow perform in harmony.

Light, suspended!

Inspired by the delicate folds of origami and the rhythmic patterns of traditional textiles, Ori evokes a sense of movement frozen in time. Each panel is meticulously crafted, curving in a way that mimics the fluid motion of fabric caught mid-air. The warm glow that radiates from the bar above is filtered through layers of folded material — transforming light into texture, shadow and emotion.

Sculptural beacons for modern homes

The Mushroom floor lamps are striking yet serene, towering like contemporary totems. Crafted with a dialogue between wood and metal, their bold silhouettes anchor spaces with quiet strength. They stand as reminders that design is not only about filling a void but redefining how we experience it.

Mirrors that hold stories

A mirror at Ori is more than a reflection — it’s a portal. Encircled with illuminated folds, these mirrors transform a daily glance into an intimate moment of pause. Their glowing frames ripple light outward, echoing a sense of eternity, while inviting you to slow down and truly see.

Walls that breathe light

Ori’s Roll Lamp Cluster is a work of art in itself. They don’t merely illuminate — they compose. Casting patterns that shift and dance, they create an ever-changing dialogue with their surroundings. Light becomes fluid, a living element of the interior.

Furniture with a soul

The Artharth Console at ORI reflects the sculptural soul of the brand. Its base rises like hand-carved columns, grounding the piece with quiet strength, while the surface features intricate, intentional etchings. Both functional and expressive, it transforms the everyday into something enduring — a utilitarian form reimagined as timeless art.

The Sunrise Corner Table carries the same spirit. With a sunburst steel top and a hand-turned wooden base, it captures the stillness of dawn in material form. Balancing strength and softness, structure and sentiment, it embodies ORI’s philosophy: folding design into emotion, and form into feeling.

Living the folded dream

Ori – Folded Dreams is not simply about objects. It’s about crafting spaces that feel alive, thoughtful, and serene. It is designed as meditation—where light, form, and material come together to shape not just rooms but emotions. Every piece whispers a quiet invitation: live slowly, live consciously, and live beautifully.

For spaces that seek stillness

Ori – Folded Dreams is perfect for serene interiors: boutique lobbies, art galleries, wellness retreats, or any space in need of quiet grace. It’s not just a lighting fixture—it’s a statement of peace.
