A space to experiment: Tesor Designs’ work studio in Bengaluru remodels the idea of a modern office

Within the walls of a 2,000 sq ft workspace in Bengaluru’s Kalyan Nagar, ideas collide, creativity sparks and productivity flows like the rush of caffeine on a Monday morning. This is the studio of Tesor Designs helmed with an equal creative tenor by co-founders Supriya S and Rajesh Kudlu and their team. Bathed in natural light, the open layout here proves that great design isn’t just about looking good – it’s about making you feel at home. “Since we were our own clients, we knew exactly what wasn’t working in the previous studio space and what we needed more of. Our philosophy while designing our spaces is that design should solve real, day-to-day problems, while being aesthetically exciting,” says the duo.
Breaking the mould
A collaborative result of ideas by designers Syed Ayaz and Diya Susan Sam alongside Priyanka Kodi, Raghavendra KJ and Vinya Shetty of Tesor Designs, the workspace departs from the standard canvas of rigid cubicles, in favour of a flexible, free-flowing space that encourages movement and liberty to collaborate! The ‘refined rustic’ theme runs across, starting with a brick archway that stands tall and invites you to pause, reflect or even sneak in a quick read. “The reading nook and the arch wall were the most enjoyable part to design for the team. The Burberry-inspired wallpaper and the brick arch were the first elements on the mood board,” say the co-founders.
The studio is a lesson in remodelling the entire layout from scratch. “We approached the project as a complete transformation, stripping down the interior by removing all existing walls to create a fully open, adaptable workspace,” they add.
A material world
Earthy terracotta tones, rich reds, warm browns and bold blacks infuse the space with character. Greenery and pops of blue add freshness. Textures, including lime-wash and architectural concrete balance vibrancy with timelessness, where every surface tells a story.
Function over clutter
While aesthetic is important, the true design priorities are comfort, flow and functionality. Clever, hidden storage solutions are integrated throughout the studio. The design philosophy is clear: solve everyday challenges without sacrificing visual appeal.
The partition wall was a challenge, with ideas like half-brick and French window dividers falling short. The final solution: a lime-wash texture with cut-out sides, blending function and style. “We tried several ideas before settling on the lime-wash texture with cut-out sides, creating a unique division that maintains openness and flow,” explain Supriya and Rajesh.
Dynamic and inventive, the Tesor studio blurs the line between work and leisure, with intentional, inspired design. Creativity thrives beyond the nine-to-five, cultivated in an environment that fosters connection, exploration and innovation.
