“The key to great design is capturing the spirit of the homeowner’s lifestyle and the essence of the space,” says Milind Pai of his eponymous studio, when talking about his new residential project, The Glamour Home. As the name suggests, this abode was designed to reflect luxury in a contemporary fashion, with a mix of rich elements like gold plated metals, leather, Italian marble and mirrors that also add character to the home.

As we meander through the foyer, two similar looking consoles with high gloss wood finish, a metal base and glass top are camouflaged behind designer panels maintaining uniform space in between. Further inside, a vibrant dining space opens up on the left while the living room is seen on the right. Designed with a modern look and abundance of accessories and artefacts, this space features furniture with tan and brown upholstery and Versace cushions in bold black and gold shades. The wall behind the sofa is accentuated with Picasso Gold marble.

“Designing the living room was the most enjoyable experience as it was our favourite corner! With the use of a flashy book-matched marble backdrop for the sofa, we used alot of artefacts and accessories in this space to achieve our desired contemporary and trendy look! Adding a little more jazz to the wall, is a brown bevelled mirror in the diamond cut pattern on both sides of the marble backdrop,” says Pai.

The dining room hosts a long sofa bench on one side and chairs on the other. This space is further characterised by bevelled mirrors that reflect diamond patterns on the wall. A crystal gold chandelier illuminates the area and adds an element of glam. Pushing through the light curtains and stepping out of the heighted window, we enter the deck area that features leather finished natural stone flooring. The striking powder toilet close to the entrance is clad with exotic Italian tiles. Establishing harmony in the decor through the subtle colour palette, Pai was able to achieve a warm balance in the apartment.

Keeping in mind the personality of a young businessman, the son’s bedroom was crafted with shades of grey, white and tangy browns. A designer panel encloses the TV unit and continues across the wall, while the setting behind the bed is a grey textured wallpaper. The headboard captivates us with random playful patterns in a beige leather tone. While designing the daughters bedroom, a classic touch with soft pastels was used. A chic headboard was custom made in suede and the side tables feature a combination of pink Onyx on the top, leather back and base with mirrored fronts for the drawers.

A separate dressing area is seen with bright vanity style bulbs and storage shelves on the top and bottom. Lastly, as we walk over to the master suite, we’re captivated by the rich elements. A custom-designed bed and headboard in a combination of two suede fabric tones are seen. The other half of the wall behind is finished in textured paint. A suspended light on one side acts as a reading light while adding ritz to the space, while a lounge chair with a gold-finished side table makes for a cosy reading corner while the wardrobe and dressing area emulates a modern classical aesthetic.

The bathroom is designed with Brown Armani marble tiles to maintain uniformity.”This residential project is a unique blend of a modern luxury and urban pulse, interwoven with some human warmth,” says Pai. Our design philosophy lent this home a predominant modern style and chic décor with innovative use of material and finishes.
