There is something magical about Christmas and its festive markets. The lights, the trinkets, Santa and his elves…the list is endless. Elle Décor India picks the top six Christmas markets around the world that peeked our interest this year. 1) Christkindelsmärik, Strasbourg. One of Europe’s oldest Christmas markets, Christkindelsmärik in Strasbourg, France, is the place where it is love at first sight. You cannot help but fall in love with the beautifully illuminated stalls and the aroma of freshly baked gingerbread and biscuits. The streets come alive with Christmas music. The sound and the light shows are the perfect end to the evening with a glass of the popular Vin Chaud or mulled wine. 2) Winterfest, Hong Kong.Every building on Victoria harbour dazzles in festive spirit making the lights the main attraction of the season. Gliding on the ice, buying trinkets from the handcraft stalls and choosing from an array of sumptuous treats, one is sure to have a gala time. 4) Christkindlmarket, Chicago.Chicago’s Christkindlmarket is sure to make you waddle back home with a full stomach and a satisfied heart thanks to all the delicious German food that’s offered, like potato pancakes, schnitzels and chocolate covered pretzels paired with some rich Glühwein. Take a stroll down the winding lanes of the market and browse through the various huts selling handmade souvenirs and a creative selection of Christmas ornaments that are sure to get anyone in the Christmas spirit, instantly.
