The Famous Studio in Mumbai was a frenzy of lights, cameras and action yesterday, with the launch of the Asian Paints Colour Next Trends of the year. Invite-only guests were taken through a maze of set-ups, featuring the biggest trends of 2018. Slow living and soft tones from the trend #Humane flowed seamlessly into the vintage #AlchemyofMemories set-up. Corporates hustled towards the #BusyCool vibe, while the #Untamed trend stood out with loud colour combinations and almost-offensive moodboards. Guests participated wholeheartedly: Sarah Sham was dressed to in the Colour of the Year: Passion Flower, while Ali Baldiwala struck a pose with his father, Bakhir Baldiwala, at the furry #Untamed installation. Architect Elsie Nanji has a playful moment, swirling on a Roche Bobois swivel chair. A walk towards the light – or the warm yellow glow of the room where four-minute presentations on four trends by Alan Abraham, Pavitra Rajaram, Ashwini Deshpande and Ekta Parekh – was the brilliant finale of the colour launch. Each presentation was accompanied by theatric videos on the trends while COO of Asian Paints, Amit Syngle, played the witty host. Finally, the night ended at the bar, complete with sangrias and the wallpaper of the year by Sabyasachi – the Mimosa.
