Just Like Home: Atmosphere’s plush Mumbai store just got a cosy makeover

Committed to delivering high quality fabric, luxury home textile brand Atmosphere is best known for its wide selection of drapery, upholstery, bed linen and accessories.

For the re-launched store in Colaba, Mumbai, Akanksha Himatsingka, who is the Managing Director at Himatsingka Wovens, the parent company of Atmosphere, knew exactly what it needed to be – just like home. With its open plan, the store is sectioned off into various zones for easy strolling and browsing. Light honey oak floors and accents of brass and white Carrara dominate the space, creating a warm, cosy atmosphere.

When we asked Rajiv Saini, the architect and designer behind all the magic, about his vision for the store, he said, “It was really about creating this timeless, beautiful, elegant, yet plush environment that would serve as a beautiful backdrop appropriate to retail the fabrics. I instantly thought of honey coloured oak paneling and accents of marble.”

Every little detail has been wisely curated to create an intimate environment in the store. “It’s truly a design store,” Himatsingka states. “From the racks to the tables and the seaters, everything was carefully thought through. And it’s so delicate and elegant. It’s who we are.”
