The gates of India Design ID 2018 were thrown open tonight for an invite-only preview bash that attracted Delhi’s design stars, social jetsetters and more than a few international icons (many of whom will be speaking at ID Symposium, which kicks off on February 22). Setting the tone for the days to come, Amit Syngle, COO of Asian Paints, unveiled the Colour Next trends for 2018 — Alchemy of Memories, Humane, Untamed and Busycool.

Each Colour Next trend was preceded by a performance, allowing the audience to be enchanted by poet Priya Malik, designer Arjun Saluja, a cappella group Vocal Rasta and local pop-n-lock crew. Sahej Bakshi of Dualist Inquiry took over after, turning the NSIC Grounds in New Delhi into the hottest party venue of the month. ID Symposium speakers Ron Arad and Javier Mariscal were seen posing for photos in front of the Asian Paints setups, while flagbearers of the design community from Divya Thakur and Elsie Nanji to Sunil Sethi, Mukul Goyal and Priya Paul walked around the larger-than-life installations.

Rising stars Rooshad Shroff and Ravi Vazirani were seen chatting with Anjali Mody, Kunaal Kyhaan Seolekar and Kayzad and Maria Shroff. New Delhi’s fashion circuit was well-represented by designers Shantanu Mehra, David Abraham, Rakesh Thakore, Kavita Bhartia, Shivan Bhatiya, Narresh Kukreja, Raghavendra Rathore, Suneet Varma, Gautam Sinha and more.
