The GVK Lounge at Mumbai International Airport’s Terminal 2 designed and executed by ABM Architects won adjudged the Best Airport Lounge in Asia at the 22nd edition of the World Travel Awards 2015, recently held in Hong Kong.
Open to business and first class passengers only, the two level luxury lounge inaugurated last November spreads across 30,000 sq ft and includes a bar and a dining area with added benefits of spa services, a library and a business centre.
“The mandate from Sanjay Reddy (Vice Chairman, GVK Group of Industries) was to make it the best lounge in the world!” says Alfaz Miller, Director of ABM Architects. “The award validates that the GVK lounge is world class. It is the result of immense skill and effort of the ABM Architects team along with styling inputs from (Bengaluru based architect) Sandeep Khosla.”
The place was selected after more than 5,00,000 votes were cast by travel professionals and high-end tourists. Competing for the title were several esteemed international nominees like Cathay Pacific’s The Wing First Class Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport; the Japan Airlines First Class Lounge; the Korean Air KAL Lounge at Incheon International Airport; the Malaysian Airlines Golden Lounge; the Singapore Airlines Silver Kris Lounge; and the Thai Airways Royal First Lounge at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
We heard it has also further nominated as the World’s Best Lounge in the World Travel Awards that will be held later this year in Morocco. Fingers crossed!
