EDIDA 2017 was a grand affair to remember
NOV 21, 2017 | By Reecha Kulkarni
The grand convocation hall of the University of Mumbai was a fitting location for EDIDA 2017, where the design and architecture fraternity gathered for the anointment of the best in design.
Nariyal pani, rustic flute music and a starry sky set the tone for the evening, with Bathware nominee Shobhan Kothari and Neesha Alwani being among the first to walk in. After industry heavyweights like Sunil Sethi from SSDA, Michaela McClelland from Preciosa and Rooshad Shroff began trickling in, we spotted Suparna Handa, celebrity architect Ashiesh Shah and Nirav and Krupali of Surprise Home Linen among other prestigious guests. The ceremony was inaugurated by Sethi and Pramiti Madhavji of ELLE DECOR India, and hosted by Sneha Ullal Goel, Executive Editor of ELLE DECOR India. Kunaal Kyhaan Seolekar was awarded the Young Talent for EDIDA 2017 while Harjot Singh bagged Student of the Year. It came as no surprise to the cheering crowd when Rooshad Shroff was crowned Designer of the Year.
Finally, a Parsi pangat dinner in the garden styled with fairy lights, the wonderful skills of harpist Nush Lewis and scrumptious catering from JOSS brought the night to a fairytale ending. And of course, guests walked away with heavy gift bags like Christmas had arrived early, stacked with goodies from Surprise Home Linen, Preciosa Lighting, Paper Design Co, Tea Box, Tresorie, House of Cookies and Anand Prakash.
