#EDDesignerFind: Suneet Varma’s stainless steel accessories for Arttd’inox

JAN 28, 2016 | By Jaina Chandwany

After impressing much of Hollywood and Bollywood, renowned fashion couturier Suneet Varma makes his debut in the world of product design with an exquisite range of stainless steel tableware and tabletop accessories for Arrtd’inox.
Unveiled at the launch of the brand’s new flagship store in New Delhi recently, the luxurious range presented in a metallic colour palette of silver, rose gold and bronze includes utensils, vases, cutlery and storage boxes.
Commenting on the association, Deepikka Jindal, Executive Creative Director and Managing Director, Arttd’inox told us, “When I thought of going beyond the obvious and creating a collection which is unique, not just in design but also in craftsmanship, I could only think of Suneet.”
Talking about his penchant for traditional art using age-old techniques, he elaborates, “My couture collections and my home line for Arttd’inox have a very similar aesthetic and design DNA. I like to research old textiles, embroidery techniques and innovative ways of dying and printing textiles using gold leaf and shaded ombre.”
While utensils discovered from the Indus Valley civilisation and Mughal period inspired some bowls, others with hand engraved borders pick cues from traditional Banarasi saris. Made using the Chitai traditional technique of hand beating surfaces to create engravings, each bowl makes for  an intricate piece of art.
From cutlery and tableware coated in 18 carat gold to vases and boxes decorated in Swarovski crystals and baroque pearls, this designer line also makes a great case for festive and special occasion gifting.
