‘90s style booths, vintage music and more at the new Jamjar Diner Mumbai
SEP 6, 2017 | By Reecha Kulkarni
Psychedelic colours on a retro juke box, stacked classics and wholesome burgers will keep you coming back to the new Jamjar Diner. Hill Road’s latest haunt welcomes you with pretty stained glass, lofty ceilings and asymmetrical mirrors. Walk into a pastel haven, with muted yellows, lighter blues and naturally polished wooden seating. You could order a Watermelon Bloody Mary or an Amaretto Sour at the dive bar, or snuggle into a booth while you slurp on a breakfast smoothie. Raja Arjun from the Office of Cognitive Design (OCD), along with Akshara Verma, take cues from the surrounding Bandra architecture, while retaining the comfy yet trendy ambience from the Versova branch. “The colours of the restaurant are inspired by the houses in Ranwar village… we studied old Bandra houses and their colours, and tweaked it to create a modern palette. A lot of carpentry details have also been inspired by the old furniture in these houses, and every element has been custom designed by us,” says Raja Arjun. If Versova was too long a journey, visit the Bandra Jamjar for the same delicious fare, vintage music and quirky vibe. Where: Jamjar Diner, Gazebo House, 1st Floor, Hill Road, Bandra West, Mumbai 50
