India Design ID 2016: And the Asian Paints Colour of Year is…
FEB 10, 2016 | By ELLE DECOR Team
Every year Asian Paints, under the leadership of President – Sales, Marketing and Technology Amit Syngle, conducts intensive market reach and study for the country’s only colour prediction system.
On February 11, Asian Paints officially announced their much awaited Colour of The Year – Madder Red – at the Trends pavilion at Indian Design ID 2016.
Asian Paints works with influencers across disciplines, from designers to sociologists, to distill societal trends that reflect the mood of times. The 13th edition of their annual trend forecast for interiors saw the celebration of a red so intense and individual that it was christened after the plant the pigment is distilled from: Madder, manjishtha or Rubia Tinctorum.
This colour is said to have travelled the world from Central Asia to India, through the Levant to the West. In ancient times, Greek dyers were brought to France to recreate this revolutionary red and spies were sent to the near East to unearth the secret to it.That profound and hypnotising is Madder Red – Asian Paints’ Colour of the Year for 2016.
