6 reasons to pick up our sexy summer 2018 issue

by Reecha Kulkarni Apr 12, 2018 From sunny vacations to décor inspiration, our April-May 2018 issue kicks the season up a notch. Not convinced? Check out six ways to top the summer of ’69:

1. Stunning nature getaways
Where do you summer? This issue takes you off the coast and into a paradise of forest retreats and luxury stays. Laze around in a blanket of green with our nature getaways. Join the Cardamom Club in Kerala, designed by Nicola La Noce, or get eco-friendly without boundaries at Woods at Sasan. Jim’s Jungle Retreat stars on our cover, a breathtaking hotel that’s located on the periphery of a tiger reserve.

2. Muse-homes for the season

Warning: You may subconsciously begin packing your bags after touring these mind-blowing homes. Here’s the itinerary - we start with a bright and airy home in Ahmedabad, designed by Sak Designs. Sucheta Potnis and Hans Tuinaman’s Goan homestay is next. However, staying at Summertime Villa may remind you of Bali, with wooden columns and koi ponds reminiscent of the island. Finally, we take you to Spain, inside British celebrity designer Jade Jagger’s coastal mansion.

3. The Colour of the Year
Expect to find this colour in every household in 2018. As a result of months of research by top designers, architects and sociologists by Asian Paints, ‘Passion Flower’ was declared Colour of The Year 2018, aptly named after its golden glow.
Browse through mood boards, accessories and more in our feature, and don’t be surprised at yourself, when you pick amber wallpaper for your home.

4. Tropical vibes and infinite florals
Transport yourself to an exhilarating landscape of bold patterns with a verdure palette and gold accents – ‘Tropical Modern’ is a trend forecasted by ELLE DÉCOR India this year. If you need an artist’s paint palette, we’ve also featured an explosion of florals, multi-hued wallpapers and cheery prints in our International Trends section.

5. Brighter Mondays
Report to work with fashion designer Nachiket Barve at his Mumbai studio, where he gives us peeks of his drawing board, embroidery samples and collection of dresses. We also visit the sunlit workspace of Red Architects, who call it an ‘ideal studio by day and lounge by night!”

6. Inspirational people

If you missed India Design ID 2018, our issue features an exclusive interview with Simon Velez, an inspiring Columbian architect who creates innovative structures with bamboo as the main raw material. Pritzker Prize winning Jean Nouvel also makes an appearance, taking us through some of his projects – the Louvre Abu Dhabi being the most recent.
