AutoCamp Yosemite breathes new life into your mundane camping experience

by Vedika Nair Aug 23, 2019 When you hear the word camping, a series of pictures must flash through your mind. Tent, woods, bonfire, roasted marshmallows and probably a few insects here and there. What if we told you the term camping has revamped itself into something breathtakingly beautiful with a few luxurious add-ons? AutoCamp is a retreat company that has reimagined the way people experience camping by collaborating with Santa Barbara-based Anacapa Architecture and San Francisco's Geremia Design. Their mission is to connect people with the outdoors and each other, and AutoCamp Yosemite represents a landmark moment for the team, the local community, and for travellers that are looking for new and unique ways to experience the outdoors. Nestled within the idyllic Californian mountains, it features a variety of natural wonders including waterfalls, beautiful hikes, and breathtaking views. The camp is the brand’s third and largest location to date, with fully outfitted, custom-designed airstream suites, luxurious canvas tents, and beautiful accessible suites seamlessly blending thoughtful design with the great outdoors. A two-story clubhouse stands as the focal point of AutoCamp Yosemite, with meeting space, a fully stocked shop, luxury bathrooms, showers, natural pond and swimming pool, effortlessly achieving AutoCamp’s ideologies.

Taking a tour of the accommodations at the AutoCamp we feast our eyes on the iconic Airstream. The Anacapa team refined an architectural accent to augment classic, modern and timeless style of the trailer while taking insight from mid-century masters. Geremia Design crafted the interiors with the utmost personification of the term camping while blending those ideas with sophisticated contemporary lines with rough-hewn materials. The marketplace at AutoCamp is kindled with light installations by Breandan Ravenhill. The clubhouse hosts low-slung seating areas with plush couches, fire pits and significant wood benches that brandish the stunning views of the natural environs all while spurring a communal experience that honours the vigour of camping. Each unit features an outdoor fire pit and bespoke outdoor seating to enhance the travellers camping experience. Gravel pathways and walking trails connect accommodations to central gathering areas throughout the property, including an upgraded pond and swimming pool that existed on the previous site. AutoCamp Yosemite is powered primarily by solar energy, drawing minimal electricity from the grid.

The AutoCamp also features refurbished cabins with lodging. These cabins accentuate contemporary fixtures and cosy state of the art details like custom decor pieces to increase the luxury factor while keeping the vibe minimal and rustic. Another exciting dwelling experience can be found at the tent service at the AutoCamp. Designed by Anacapa, the luxury tents are crafted by Sheridan Tent & Awning in Wyoming. The 260 sq ft lodgement features decorative pillows handmade in Chile by Treko and pendant light by In Common With.
