Coal Comfort: A beautiful all black bedroom

by Tasneem Merchant Oct 17, 2015

Tired of playing by the rules? It’s time to change the game. Take a pass on colour schemes and move over to the dark side.

Build a charcoal den a la this Kunal Shah design, which features dark walls starkly contrasted with a white ceiling. The monotone sweeps across the room, broken only by the mirror in an antique custom finish created by the designer.

A clean look is achieved by minimising the remaining elements to a single chair and cushions. The wall of black and white photographs personalises the room.

Achieve the Stygian look by slathering the sooty shade across the walls. Accessories like quilts and cushion covers in slightly soothing pastel shades will complete the setting. You can opt for an embossed pattern on a single wall to add some texture to the room.

Experiment with upholstery in floral patterns to cut through the inky shade.
