Here's your chance to design a rickshaw in Benaras

by Reecha Kulkarni Aug 08, 2017

Stepping out into the city’s traffic is only another reason to stay in bed on a Monday morning. But if you live in Benaras, travelling to work could be a colourful experience. 15 uniquely designed e-rickshaws will roam the streets after Design Fabric’s The Banaras Project.

In collaboration with 100% Uttar Pradesh, the firm hopes to introduce a sustainable form of transport by highlighting the design. The contest calls for designers all over India to submit their entries, after which three designers will be chosen to attend a Design Residency in Benaras. The winners will also get to see their work launched on 5 e-rickshaws each by the end of September.

The fabrics will be produced by Taxi Fabric, who are in the business of beautifying taxis with Mumbai-inspired designs for the city. Apply on the website before the August 13, 2017, with the results being announced on the August 14, 2017.
